Software Development Manager, FBA Defect Prevention

The FBA Defect Prevention team is expanding in Bangalore! We drive down costs in the supply chain for Amazon and Sellers by identifying and preventing defects in inbound shipments. As a leader within FBA you will provide both strategic and tactical oversight to build the features and functionality required to have the best in class offering for sellers. This leader will create mechanisms to drive optimal seller behavior reducing total supply chain costs.

Key job responsibilities
This Software Development Manager role is pivotal to delivering an exceptional experience for FBA customers and sellers worldwide. This leader will manage a team that develops and maintains highly scalable highly available web services and systems at the heart of FBA technology offerings. These services support the FBA business globally through rapidly evolving and complex demands in a high-9s availability environment.

A day in the life
This leader will:
* Work with senior leaders in FBA to define product strategy and roadmap
* Lead high-quality execution of software products against project plans and delivery commitments; architect and develop the best technical designs for extensibility reliability and scalability
* Build and develop a high performance software development organization by hiring mentoring and growing a best-in-class team
* Own all operational metrics and support
* Work directly with development teams in Bellevue Bangalore and across the globe on shared projects and dependent deliverables

- 5 years of engineering team management experience
- 8 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Experience in English-language communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage document or key-value stores graph databases column-family databases)
- Experience in development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
- Masters degree or equivalent in computer science computer engineering or related field or MS degree
- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and current systems or experience in computer architecture
- Experience within e-commerce or Retail fields
