Job Summary

. Demonstrates technical expertise in disciplinary field.
2. Meets task or project time and budget goals.
3. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
4. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined equipment materials processes products and/or scientific methods.
5. Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
6. Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluations tests products or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.
7. Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty a type of facility industry equipment or program function.
8. Actively involved with clients and business development.
9. Work requires an expert knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of the principles and practices of related specialties.
a. Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
b. Designs products or systems such as instruments controls machines and bulk material handling mechanical systems
c. Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
d. Coordinates operation maintenance and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
e. Design products and systems to interface machines hardware and software.
f. Evaluates field installations and recommends design modification to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
