Job Summary

Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) to lead the development and delivery of wiring harness and EDS solutions across vehicle programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving design maturity programme execution validation readiness cost and weight management and launch support while collaborating with global engineering manufacturing supplier and programme teams.

This role requires strong technical expertise in automotive electrical distribution systems programme management capability and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced global environment.



Responsibilities

Programme Leadership

  • Lead EDS design and development activities for assigned vehicle programmes from programme definition through launch and post-launch support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the EDS design team within assigned programmes.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across suppliers manufacturing validation integration and programme management teams.
  • Track programme deliverables and provide status updates in project reviews and leadership forums.

Design & Development

  • Drive EDS target-setting activities and ensure engineering deliverables meet programme milestones.
  • Manage design releases to support prototype builds validation testing and production readiness.
  • Maintain CAD and Bill of Materials (BoM) alignment and accuracy.
  • Ensure design maturity through effective issue identification resolution and change management.

Cost Weight & Complexity Management

  • Monitor programme cost and weight targets.
  • Support cost reconciliation and gap-to-target analysis.
  • Manage engineering changes and associated cost and weight impacts.
  • Coordinate BoM updates and configuration management activities.

Validation & Issue Resolution

  • Support validation activities and coordinate test readiness.
  • Drive timely resolution of engineering and launch-related issues.
  • Escalate critical concerns through established programme review processes when required.
  • Support prototype validation and launch builds including issue containment and corrective actions.

Launch Support

  • Collaborate with suppliers and launch teams to achieve quality timing APQP and PPAP objectives.
  • Support safe-launch activities and post-launch issue resolution.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and production countermeasures as needed.

Teamwork & Professional Excellence

  • Work effectively with global engineering teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-building activities.
  • Complete required technical and compliance training.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelors Degree in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Or an equivalent engineering discipline

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of automotive engineering experience.
  • Experience in wiring harness or Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) development preferred.
  • Experience supporting vehicle development programmes from concept through launch.
  • Exposure to supplier coordination and cross-functional programme delivery.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of automotive electrical distribution systems and wiring harness design.
  • Good understanding of vehicle development processes and programme milestones.
  • Experience with CAD BoM management engineering change management and validation activities.
  • Familiarity with engineering issue tracking and project management tools.
  • Ability to analyse technical cost weight and timing impacts of design changes.
