Lead Compliance Engineer
Job Summary
- Own environmental compliance for existing and new products ensuring adherence to global regulations including RoHS REACH (SVHC) SCIP WEEE TSCA Prop 65 Battery Packaging and other applicable requirements.
- Monitor emerging regulatory changes and translate them into actionable plans for Engineering Sourcing and Component Engineering teams.
- Lead supplier compliance activities including collection validation and maintenance of material declarations RoHS/REACH declarations CMRTs battery and packaging data and full material disclosures.
- Drive transition plans for non-compliant components proactively managing RoHS exemption expirations and qualification of compliant alternatives.
- Review ECOs and product BOMs for environmental compliance risks hazardous substances and regulatory gaps.
- Oversee compliance data management activities including declaration uploads compliance dashboards and data quality governance.
- Lead external regulatory submissions and customer environmental reporting including SCIP WEEE Battery TSCA China RoHS and related requirements.
- Manage CE marking compliance activities ensuring applicable EU directives and regulations are identified assessed documented and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate with Engineering test laboratories and regulatory teams to support conformity assessments technical documentation and Declarations of Conformity (DoC).
- Work closely with third-party compliance service providers to ensure compliance data remains accurate and current.
- Prepare and present periodic compliance status updates compliance risks exemption timelines and regulatory readiness plans to senior leadership.
- Represent the business in corporate compliance forums and drive implementation of regulatory process and system updates.
- A proactive leader who can effectively manage complex global compliance requirements across multiple product families.
- A strong collaborator who works seamlessly with Engineering Sourcing Operations Product Management and Corporate stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for regulatory compliance data accuracy and continuous improvement.
- An effective communicator capable of translating complex regulations into clear business actions and executive-level updates.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Environmental Sciences Materials Science or a related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental compliance component engineering product stewardship or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of RoHS REACH SCIP WEEE TSCA Prop 65 Battery Packaging and other global environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of CE marking requirements applicable EU directives/regulations conformity assessment processes technical documentation and Declarations of Conformity (DoC).
- Experience reviewing material declarations identifying compliance risks and driving supplier compliance activities.
- Experience managing exemption expiry reviews and driving corrective actions to ensure continued product compliance.
- Familiarity with BOM-level compliance assessments material compliance tools and compliance management databases.
- Experience leading regulatory submissions customer declarations and environmental reporting activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and coordinate globally distributed teams.
- Strong analytical project management communication presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in the electronics industrial automation instrumentation or embedded systems industry.
- Knowledge of emerging regulations such as PFAS UK REACH China RoHS and evolving sustainability requirements.
- Experience with CMAP Agile PLM SiliconExpert or similar compliance and lifecycle management tools.
- Familiarity with CMRT IPC-1752 IEC 62474 and material disclosure standards.
- Experience managing CE marking programs and supporting compliance with applicable directives such as EMC Low Voltage RoHS and related product regulations.
- Familiarity with technical file preparation conformity assessment processes and interactions with testing and certification bodies.
- Experience presenting compliance strategies risks and regulatory road maps to senior leadership.
- Proven success in driving compliance improvements and regulatory readiness across a global product portfolio.
