Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Hydromechanical Expert with over 20 years of professional experience in the planning design engineering and execution of hydromechanical systems for hydropower and pumped storage projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in the design and review of intake gates spillway gates stoplogs trash racks penstocks embedded parts hoisting equipment and associated hydromechanical components. The role involves leading multidisciplinary engineering teams providing technical guidance ensuring compliance with international standards and supporting project execution from feasibility through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering of hydromechanical systems for hydropower and pumped storage projects.
  • Prepare and review the design of:
    • Intake gates
    • Spillway radial and vertical lift gates
    • Emergency and maintenance gates
    • Stoplogs and bulkheads
    • Trash racks and trash cleaning systems
    • Penstocks bifurcations manifolds and steel liners
    • Embedded parts and gate sealing systems
    • Hoisting equipment and hydraulic operating systems
  • Perform hydraulic and structural design calculations for gates and penstocks.
  • Review design criteria technical specifications drawings calculations and tender documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards and codes such as ICOLD ASCE AISC Eurocodes IS Codes IEC and relevant project specifications.
  • Coordinate with civil hydraulic structural electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Provide technical inputs during feasibility studies DPR preparation detailed engineering procurement manufacturing installation and commissioning.
  • Review vendor drawings manufacturing procedures quality assurance documentation and inspection reports.
  • Participate in design reviews HAZOP studies value engineering exercises and risk assessments.
  • Conduct factory inspections site inspections and technical audits during fabrication and erection.
  • Provide technical support during construction testing commissioning and performance evaluation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across hydromechanical engineering activities.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Masters degree in Hydraulic Structures Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

Additional Information :

  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) for hydromechanical structures.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD SolidWorks STAAD Pro ANSYS SAP2000 or equivalent analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of applicable international standards quality assurance and inspection procedures.
