Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design analysis and validation of advanced aerospace structures for next-generation launch vehicles. This position is central to ensuring structural integrity performance and safety across all phases of vehicle developmentfrom concept to flight. The ideal candidate will leverage deep expertise in structural mechanics finite element analysis and materials science to deliver lightweight high-performance designs that meet stringent aerospace standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in propulsion avionics and manufacturing to drive innovation in rocket structural systems. Your work will directly contribute to the success of mission-critical components such as tanks interstages and payload adapters making this a key role in advancing our spaceflight capabilities. Responsibilities: Lead the structural design and development of primary and secondary rocket structures using metallic and composite materials to achieve optimal strength-to-weight ratios. Perform detailed 1D structural calculations and advanced CAD modeling ensuring seamless integration with propulsion avionics and thermal systems. Conduct comprehensive structural analysis using FEA tools (ANSYS Abaqus) including stress strain buckling fatigue dynamic thermo-structural and Power Spectral Density (PSD) evaluations. Validate analysis results through hand calculations and classical methods ensuring accuracy and compliance with aerospace design standards. Identify and mitigate potential failure modes (yielding buckling fatigue fracture) using industry-accepted criteria such as Von Mises stress. Drive structural optimization through topology optimization lightweight material selection and advanced manufacturing techniques. Support manufacturing teams by ensuring design feasibility and manufacturability and assist in the assembly and integration of structural subsystems. Participate in structural testing activities including static load vibration and material characterization tests and analyze test data to refine designs. Contribute to design reviews trade studies and safety assessments to ensure robust reliable and flight-ready structures. Requirements 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering within aerospace defense or high-performance vehicle systems. Proficiency in CAD software including SpaceClaim Autodesk Fusion and AutoCAD for detailed structural modeling. Expertise in FEA tools such as ANSYS and Abaqus for dynamic thermal and fatigue analysis. Strong understanding of metallic and composite materials including their mechanical behavior and application in aerospace environments. Demonstrated experience in structural analysis covering fatigue fracture buckling impact thermo-structural PSD modal and vibration analysis. Hands-on experience with structural testing data validation and test-to-analysis correlation. Proven ability to perform accurate 1D structural calculations and validate results through multiple analysis methods. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines. Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills with a track record of collaborating across engineering disciplines. Strong documentation and presentation skills for conveying complex technical results to diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Skills): Experience designing rocket interstages tanks fairings or payload adapters. Knowledge of spacecraft-level loads dynamics and vibrational analysis. Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) for aerospace structural components.
