FinOps Engineer (Azure & AWS)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced FinOps Engineer to drive cost-effective cloud strategies and financial management. The successful candidate will monitor and optimize cloud spending implement FinOps best practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud consumption with organizational goals. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient and accountable cloud usage.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze cloud spending across Azure and AWS identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement cost allocation strategies using tagging and cost hierarchy models.
- Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards and financial reports providing insights to stakeholders.
- Establish budgets forecasts and variance analysis for cloud consumption.
- Ingrain cost-aware architecture principles by collaborating with engineering teams.
- Drive adoption of FinOps tools and automation frameworks for efficient cost management.
- Design and implement automation for cost tracking and optimization using scripting languages.
- Partner with Finance Procurement and Engineering teams for cost planning and accountability.
- Raise awareness and provide training on cloud financial governance to business units.
- Stay updated with the latest FinOps practices and cloud pricing models to optimize strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with Azure and AWS cloud platforms including cost management tools.
- Deep understanding of cloud pricing models and experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Scripting skills in Python PowerShell or Bash for automation.
- Practical experience in FinOps cloud financial management or cloud governance.
- Knowledge of FinOps Foundation principles and framework and experience with tagging strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in Power BI Tableau or Excel for cost reporting.
- Ability to handle large cost datasets such as AWS CUR and Azure exports.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Azure or AWS certifications such as Azure Administrator or AWS Solutions Architect are an asset.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise cloud environments and exposure to multi-cloud architectures.
