We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design engineering and execution of hydropower and pumped storage projects. The role involves detailed design and coordination of electro-mechanical (E&M) systems including turbines generators balance of plant (BOP) and associated electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed designs for electro-mechanical systems in hydropower and pumped storage projects
- Prepare specifications design calculations and technical drawings for:
- Turbines (Francis Pelton Kaplan reversible pump-turbines)
- Generators and excitation systems
- Transformers switchgear and protection systems
- Balance of plant systems (cooling water drainage compressed air HVAC)
- Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate between mechanical and electrical disciplines for integrated system design
- Ensure compatibility between turbine-generator systems and grid requirements
- Support interface management between civil hydro-mechanical and E&M components
- Prepare technical reports design basis documents BOQs and tender specifications
- Support preparation of bid documents and technical evaluations
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC IEEE ISO etc.)
- Provide engineering support during manufacturing installation and commissioning
- Review FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests)
- Assist in troubleshooting and performance optimization
- Interact with OEMs consultants and contractors
- Evaluate vendor proposals and participate in technical negotiations
- Coordinate with project management teams to ensure timely delivery
Key Skills
- Knowledge of hydropower technologies and pumped storage schemes
- Understanding of power systems protection schemes and grid integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Experience with reversible pump-turbines and variable speed machines
- Knowledge of transient analysis load flow and stability studies
- Familiarity with SCADA and control systems
Experience working on international projects
Qualifications :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in:
- Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Strong understanding of hydropower plant systems
Additional Information :
Required Experience
- 15-20 years of experience in hydropower or pumped storage projects
- Familiarity with turbine-generator systems and E&M equipment
- Familiar with the guidelines of appraisal agencies
