Microsoft Silicon Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsofts expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsofts Intelligent Cloud mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsofts over 200 online businesses including Bing MSN Office 365 Xbox Live Teams OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure security and compliance operations globalization and manageability solutions. The Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering (CSME) organization within SCHIEis responsible fordesign developmentmanufacturingand packaging of Microsoftsstate-of-the-artcomputer chips notably the Azure Cobalt. Our solutions provide sustainable strategicadvantagesto Microsoft and enable our customers to achieve more.

As Microsofts cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on timein high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal the shared custom IP and silicon security (SCIPS) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing improving the planning process quality delivery scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.



Responsibilities

As a Design Verification Engineer on the SCIPS (Semi-custom and Central IP Silicon) team youwill be expected and able to complete the following responsibilities:

  • Verify/validatesilicon or IP to address complex challenges.

  • Take the lead in functional verification of advanced IP or ASIC SOC components using a UVM/C test bench.

  • Conduct Pre-Silicon IP/SoC verification and Post-Silicon/FPGA validation byestablishingeffective testing strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teamsincluding Architecture Design Verification and Partner groupsfor project delivery while also helping shape future designs.

  • Create test plans developtestsand support infrastructure to fullyvalidateintricate designs and document bugs or issues.

  • Execute tests troubleshoot failures and devise stress and performance scenarios to achieve test planobjectives.

  • Engage in chip bring-up activities and write test firmware toassistother teams.

  • Drive innovation by enhancing validation efficiency through new methodologies and tools.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of related technical engineering experience

  • ORBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or related field AND 3 years technical engineering experience or internship experience

  • ORMasters degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or related field AND 3 years technical engineering experience or internship experience

  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or related field.

  • Experience inexecuting pre-silicon verification of IPs/Sub Systems/SoCs through full cycle.

  • Background in creating and debugging IP/SoC Level tests in SV-UVM/C.

  • In depth knowledge of verification principles testbenches and stimulus generation.

  • Solid understanding of silicon chip and/or computer architecture

  • Scriptinglanguagesuch as PythonRubyor Perl.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the use of formal verification methods

  • Experience in Assemblystart upcode and linker scripts

  • Experience in developingMakefilesfor software development.

Screening Requirements

  • The abilityto meet Microsoftcustomerand/or government security screening requirementsarerequiredfor this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
