Position Description:
We are looking for a skilled Micro Focus COBOL Developer with 48 years of experience in developing enhancing and supporting enterprise applications built using Micro Focus COBOL on Unix/Linux or Windows platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong COBOL programming skills experience with relational databases and the ability to work across the full software development lifecycle.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
Design develop enhance and maintain applications using Micro Focus COBOL.
Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design documents.
Develop new modules and enhance existing applications.
Perform unit testing integration testing and support user acceptance testing.
Troubleshoot application issues and perform root cause analysis.
Support production applications and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
Develop and optimize SQL queries and database interactions.
Work with sequential indexed and relative files.
Collaborate with business analysts QA teams and other development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Prepare technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies where applicable.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Must-Have Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with Micro Focus COBOL (Visual COBOL / Server Express / Net Express or Enterprise Developer).
Experience developing applications on Unix/Linux and/or Windows platforms.
Strong knowledge of COBOL programming concepts and modular application design.
Experience with shell scripting (Unix/Linux) or batch scripting (Windows).
Good knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL or DB2
Experience with file handling batch processing and application troubleshooting.
Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
Experience with build and deployment processes.
Good understanding of SDLC coding standards and application support.

Good-to-Have Skills
Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Server or Enterprise Developer.
Exposure to migrating legacy COBOL applications to modern platforms.
Knowledge of Java is an advantage.
Experience using Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Experience working in a product engineering environment.
Experience in ERP product development.
Experience working in HRM Banking Insurance Healthcare or Manufacturing domains.
