Job Summary
This project is part of the infotainment and vehicle software platform from BMW. It focuses on maintaining and evolving the System Health components: recovery of systemd services system watchdog functionality and filesystem recovery operating across the Linux and Android layers of the infotainment system. These components deliver highly configurable recovery mechanisms that ensure reliability and resilience of critical system services.
- As part of a dynamic and agile team you will ensure robustness reliability and correctness of system health components running on embedded Linux and Android.
- You will collaborate with the teams architect and principal engineer to deliver well-tested maintainable software.
- You will be working in a modern development environment with tools such as C17/20 Yocto Linux CMake Git/GitHub EE and Zuul CI.
- Business fluent English
- University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study
- At least 5 years of practical software development experience.
- Good coding skills in Modern C (C17 or newer) including object-oriented design and unit testing.
- Experience with Linux systems programming: process management systemd basics filesystem concepts.
- Good knowledge of: CMake compiler toolchains (gcc clang) Git.
- Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques (gdb strace log analysis).
- Self-driven and able to work independently as member of a Scrum team.
- Experience with embedded Linux development (Yocto / Bitbake).
- Android platform development experience.
- Familiarity with CI systems (Zuul Jenkins or similar).
- Experience with inter-process communication frameworks (CommonAPI D-Bus AIDL).
- Knowledge of quality tooling: static analysis code coverage linting.
