We are looking for a Mission Planning Engineer to join the team that supports the maintenance and evolution of the mission planning system and related operational tools. The Engineer will work across the full application lifecycle from requirements and design through implementation acceptance deployment and operational support helping ensure that mission planning capabilities remain reliable throughout the lifetime of current and future spacecraft missions. The successful candidate will have previous experience and success in similar roles within space and ground data systems. The right person is passionate about software engineering automation and planning for Earth Observation missions. Willingness to roll up their sleeves while simultaneously planning for scale is critical to success with this role!

- Development and Maintenance of Mission Planning Systems (MPS) mission-specific configurations and supporting tools across engineering and operational environments.
- Analyse investigate and troubleshoot anomalies in mission planning applications configurations interfaces and underlying infrastructure working closely with operations and other engineering teams.
- Perform requirements engineering including the creation and update of software requirements traceability verification methods and verification control information.
- Develop maintain and enhance software scripts mission planning tools operational configurations build packages and deployment artefacts.
- Plan prepare and execute integration verification and acceptance activities including FAT OSAT dry-runs and formal test campaigns.
- Develop and maintain verification test plans test specifications automated test procedures test datasets test harnesses and verification test reports with end-to-end requirements traceability.
- Coordinate or support software and configuration deployments in engineering and operational environments and maintain accurate deployment records.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines software repositories build environments and configuration-management processes.
- Contribute to architectural interface and detailed design activities including MPS integration with Mission Control Flight Dynamics automation and schedule execution components.
- Support users in developing and maintaining mission planning operational configurations and provide training and technical guidance.
- Maintain technical baseline documentation user manuals installation and configuration guides knowledge-base content lessons learned and risk information.
- A University degree or foreign equivalent in systems computer communication or electrical engineering or related discipline is required
- Two (2) years of experience in one of the ground segment areas: automation monitoring & control or simulators.
- Knowledge of mission planning products or related applications such as EGOS MPS ESA Galileo SCPF APEX ICOL ChronOPS Countdown or comparable systems.
- Knowledge of CCSDS scheduling formats ESA Earth Explorer planning formats or other relevant space mission planning standards.
- Previous support to spacecraft mission rehearsals SSVTs LEOP contingency operations or other critical operational activities. Knowledge of applicable engineering and quality standards
- Knowledge of at least one programming and scripting language (bash shell C/C Java)
- Aspiration to take operational responsibility in multi-discipline teams and areas
- Ability to work independently openness and reliability
- Proficiency in English both in speech and writing
