GIS Expert (mfd)

Welcome to our GIS Team! As part of our collaborative and highly skilled team you will play a key role in supporting the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Germany through high-quality geospatial analysis and data management.

The GIS Expert is responsible for sourcing maintaining and providing the geographical data required within Business Development Germany. The role involves identifying suitable areas for large-scale PV and BESS projects obtaining landowner information and creating maps to support land acquisition project development and contractual processes.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct site screenings for large-scale PV and BESS projects using QGIS and ArcGIS
• Source maintain and provide geographical data to support project development activities
• Order process and provide landowner information
• Manage and maintain GIS databases
• Develop legally compliant and reliable maps
• Support and maintain online tools including ArcGIS Online and CRM systems
• Perform additional GIS-related tasks and analyses as required
• Maintain productive relationships with relevant state authorities to facilitate access to unpublished geographical data where available.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor or Masters degree in geography or any other GIS-related field
• A strong understanding of geographical information systems and databases is mandatory
• Proficiency in geographical information systems such as QGIS ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online is mandatory
• Knowledge of support and maintenance of databases is preferred (PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
• Capability to use query and programming languages such as SQL and Python
• Experience in automation processes is advantageous
• A conscientious and structured approach to handling sensitive data is required
• Certifications in QGIS ArcGis SQL and Python are advantageous
• Experience with WebGIS applications (OpenLayers/Leaflet) is desirable and considered an advantage
• Proficiency in German is mandatory both written and verbal proficiency in English is desirable.
