[INTERNSHIP] Compilers, libs and Tools Internship

SiPearl is the European fabless designer of sovereign secure high-performance energy-efficient CPUs for HPC AI and data centres. These CPUs will help address strategic challenges in the fields of security defence medical research energy climate and engineering with a reduced environmental footprint.

In June 25 SiPearl completed the design of the most complex CPU ever designed in Europe Rhea1. Featuring 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores with 61 billion transistors it is currently in production at TSMC. Sipearl CPUs will equip the two first European exascale supercomputers belonging to EuroHPC JU: Rhea1 will be integrated into the JUPITER machine based in Germany and Rhea2 will be part of Alice Recoque in France.

Incubated within the European Processor Initiative (EPI) consortium and seed-funded by the European Union SiPearl employs almost 200 people in :

• France (Maisons-Laffitte Grenoble Massy Sophia Antipolis)

• Spain (Barcelona)

• and Italy (Bologna)

In this context you will be involved in the optimization and the strengthening of the ecosystem (compilers libraries and tools) by exploiting both SVE vectorization and heterogeneous memories.

You will therefore be responsible for carrying out the following tasks:

• Ensuring the libraries compatibility with the Rhea1 architecture.

• Ensure full support for the features of open-source and internal libraries.

• Propose and implement optimizations.

• Track issues features and bugfixes in these libraries and provide patch(s).

• Evaluate and validate work through testsuites benchmarks and HPC codes (in collaboration with the Benchmarks teams). Possibility to upstream some patches if necessary.

• Gain practical experience in HPC architectures and software optimization.

• Develop expertise in parallel programming SVE vectorization and performance analysis.

• Strengthen your skills in debugging testing and open-source software development.

• Collaborate with experienced engineers on real-world technical challenges.

• Final-year engineering student or Masters degree student in Computer Science Software Engineering HPC or a related field.

• Strong interest in processor architectures parallel programming and software optimization.

• Analytical rigorous and proactive with good problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment.

• Good understanding of C/C (Fortran is a plus).

• Knowledge on MPI OpenMP SIMD.

• Knowledge of CPU architecture (ARM architecture is plus).

• Basics of CI and Linux.
