As a Modeling Engineer you will play a key role in preparing and optimizing 3D models used for machine control and field operations. Your work will directly support the operations team by turning 2D plans and AutoCAD files into accurate practical models for GPSenabled heavy equipment. This position is ideal for someone with a survey or civil engineering background and a strong understanding of construction workflows and CAD tools.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret 2D plans and construction documents to develop and refine models for machine control
Convert and adapt clientprovided CAD files (AutoCAD MicroStation) into usable formats for field teams
Use Carlson and other modeling software to build accurate site models for excavation grading and underground utility work
Make engineering adjustments and ensure model accuracy based on project needs and field input
Collaborate with estimators project managers and field personnel to ensure models reflect realworld conditions
Maintain organized model files and documentation for each project
Requirements
Background in civil engineering surveying or constructionrelated field
Handson experience with AutoCADCarlson and/or MicroStation
Familiarity with GPSguided equipment and the role of 3D models in machine control
Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex construction documents
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of deliverables
Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with field teams and project managers
Preferred Qualifications
2 years in a modeling or survey/engineering support role within civil construction
Experience preparing machine control models for excavation or utility projects
Working knowledge of earthwork and site development practices
