Golf Course Superintendent

The Golf Course Superintendent will play a pivotal hands-on role leading the golf course maintenance team at Quito Tenis y Golf Clubs new golf course development in Quito Ecuador. The ideal candidate brings a strong agronomic background and experience in high-end golf course maintenance with a fierce dedication to delivering premium daily playing conditions. This role offers the opportunity to help shape a new golf course through its grow-in phase and ongoing operation.

Reports to: Area Manager

Supervises: Golf Course Maintenance Employees including the Assistant Superintendent Greensmen Mechanic Pesticides Applications; Irrigation Specialist; Equipment Operator; Equipment Mechanic and Grounds Landscape and maintenance employees.

• Oversee the grow-in process of newly seeded greens featuring the 007XL bentgrass varietal and fairways planted with Kikuyu Grass ensuring optimal establishment and health.
• Maintain comprehensive turfgrass management programs including fertilization irrigation
• mowing schedules and aeration.
• Maintains the Golf Course Maintenance Standards manual.
• Program daily irrigation system. oversess performance troubleshooting Rain Bird two-wire systems and CirrusPro programming managing MCI pump stations and proactively auditing field components.
• Establishes short- and long-range plans for the golf course.
• Maintains course in proper playing condition. Inspect course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements.
• Diagnose and manage turfgrass diseases fungi and pest issues applying appropriate pesticides growth regulators and other treatments as needed.

Monitor and maintain soil health water quality and drainage systems to support the courses long-term sustainability.

• Manage budgeting inventory and procurement of equipment supplies and chemicals.
• Build a strong team of qualified employees.
• Supervise train and motivate a team of grounds crew members to ensure efficient and high-quality work.
• Collaborate with Robert Trent Jones II design team during the construction process to align maintenance practices with the courses design vision.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities weather conditions and turf performance.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with club management and members regarding course conditions and improvement projects.
• Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees members and guests on course in compliance with local state and federal laws; implements and manages the clubs hazard communication program.
• Ensures that chemicals petroleum and other controlled products are used stored and disposed of in accordance with local state and federal regulations; maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products
• Ensure proper landscaping for property outside of golf course including the clubhouse and surrounding areas.
• Bachelors degree in turfgrass management agronomy horticulture or a related field
• (preferred).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in golf course maintenance with at least 3 years in a
• supervisory role.
• Experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance and management at a high end club.
• Experience with golf course construction and/or renovations (preferred).
• Proven experience with the grow-in of newly seeded greens and fairways.

• Creeping Bentgrass management experience is essential.
• Kikuyugrass management experience would be preferable.

• Rain Bird central control computer literacy CirrusPro.
• Extensive personnel management experience.
• Ability to handle sensitive personnel situations.

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
