Job Summary

The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Chile and internationally to deploy monitor and maintain services troubleshoot operational issues and contribute to ongoing improvements in infrastructure and workflows. This role requires a proactive mindset a solid technical foundation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to solve moderately complex technical problems operate independently contribute to system design discussions and support production environments. Occasional after-hours responsibilities may be required as well as collaboration across multiple time zones.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop deploy configure test and maintain DevOps services
  • Support infrastructure deployment and provisioning processes
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and reporting tools
  • Maintain and improve configuration management solutions
  • Contribute to test automation frameworks with the team
  • Support performance tuning and availability of infrastructure
  • Build and maintain tools to improve developer and operational workflows
  • Manage urgent operational issues by leading or collaborating within teams to deploy essential services and resolve critical outages.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers

Other Functions:

  • All AURA employees are responsible for the proper management and control of all AURA property within their work area whether assigned to them or someone else. This responsibility includes reporting any known missing stolen or non-working property in their work area to their supervisor or the AURA Property Officer.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with government award terms and conditions assigned to this position or subordinates of this position as defined in the Vela Award Management system Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:
    • 36 years of experience in DevOps SRE or related technical roles
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python Go or Ruby
    • Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g. pytest go test)
    • Experience working with distributed systems and cloud-based environments
    • Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git including pull requests and code reviews.
    • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker Kubernetes)
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
    • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
    • Strong presentation verbal communication and written communication skills.
    • Spoken and written English
    • Clean driving record
    • Experience mentoring junior engineers

    Preferred Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:

    • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code
    • Experience writing Helm charts.
    • Extensive experience with Kubernetes.
    • Hands-on experience with a hosted CI/CD system such as GitHub Actions GitLab CI/CD or Travis CI
    • Hands-on experience with software-defined storage platforms such as Ceph
    • Experience with Chef Puppet Salt or Ansible in production environments.
    • Experience with monitoring and log-aggregating frameworks such as Prometheus Icinga Grafana Telegraf/InfluxDB Kafka Logstash Splunk OpenSearch and Kibana.
    • Vast experience with an Enterprise Linux (AlmaLinux etc.) distribution or Fedora
    • Relevant certifications (e.g. Kubernetes Linux) are a plus

      1. ability to read and understand instructions drawings safety guides and other written materials necessary to perform job;
      2. sufficient visual capacity to perform the applicable functions without assistance of visual aids other than eye contacts or eyeglasses;
      3. sufficient spoken aural capacity to hear and understand instructions warning bells fire alarms or shouted instructions without assistance of auditory aids other than a hearing aid; and
      4. ability to impart information orally so that others understand and can respond appropriately.
