Job description
Reporting to the Operations Manager the Unit Manager is responsible for:
- Managing daily operations related to sorting delivery and pickup activities;
- Supervising a team of unionized employees (typically between 30 and 40 employees);
- Achieving the objectives outlined in the operational performance dashboard;
- Managing employee performance according to operational standards and key performance indicators;
- Communicating and enforcing company policies procedures programs and collective agreement provisions;
- Recruiting new employees coordinating training and evaluating performance;
- Compiling and submitting reports on the daily operational activities of the unit;
- Performing other related and assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
- College diploma (DEC) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of operations experience in the transportation and logistics industry with a strong understanding of industry methods policies and procedures
- Experience managing and coaching employees (experience in a unionized environment is a significant asset)
- Energetic leadership style with the ability to motivate a team
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to coordinate a wide range of tasks and responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure
- French functional
- Knowledge of the local area
- Knowledge of job-related computer applications (Microsoft environment SAP);
