Job Summary

The Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in the successful execution of FLINTs construction maintenance and industrial projects. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations ensuring projects are delivered safely efficiently and in alignment with client expectations project schedules and quality standards.

Working collaboratively with clients project teams subcontractors and operational leadership the Superintendent provides direction mentorship and support to field personnel while promoting a culture of safety accountability and operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership skills technical expertise and the ability to effectively balance client needs workforce management and project performance.

What would you be doing

Site Leadership & Operations Management

Coordinate and oversee daily project activities to ensure safe productive and efficient operations by:

  • Providing supervision guidance and direction to FLINT employees.
  • Leading field execution activities across assigned projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with FLINT and client policies procedures and expectations.
  • Acting as a key point of contact between clients project teams and operational leadership.
  • Supporting the successful delivery of project objectives and commitments.

Project Planning & Execution

Support project success through effective planning coordination and resource management by:

  • Developing overseeing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Monitoring project progress and adherence to milestones and deliverables.
  • Estimating labour requirements and managing workforce planning needs.
  • Coordinating subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with project scopes and specifications.
  • Ensuring all work is completed according to project requirements and quality expectations.

Safety & Quality Leadership

Promote a culture where safety and quality are always the highest priorities by:

  • Championing FLINTs Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Leading implementation of corporate environmental and client safety programs.
  • Conducting and supporting site inspections and quality control measures.
  • Identifying and addressing potential hazards through a proactive safety approach.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable health safety and environmental requirements.

Client Relations & Team Development

Build strong partnerships and support team growth by:

  • Maintaining positive client-focused relationships.
  • Coaching mentoring and developing employees.
  • Providing leadership that promotes accountability collaboration and high performance.
  • Communicating effectively with clients employees subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Administration & Project Support

Ensure operational and project documentation requirements are completed by:

  • Managing claims invoices and project-related documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting project reviews and operational reporting.
  • Completing additional projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications :

  • Alberta Journeyperson Certificate (or provincial equivalent) or registered Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority.
  • Valid WHMIS CSTS Fall Protection Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space certifications.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial construction or maintenance environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership communication planning and decision-making skills.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude including the ability to read and interpret drawings and complex instructions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety quality and productive work practices.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams while managing client relationships and project priorities.

This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position and will require completion of drug and alcohol testing.
