Job Description Summary:

The School of Business is seeking a student interested in becoming peer tutor to support students taking BFIN 141 Introductory Accounting 1 and BCPT 123 Business Computing Basics. The successful applicant will attend the course they are supporting as a guest and subsequently help their peers by planning and facilitating interactive study sessions where learners discover and practice new techniques and develop their study skills in a friendly collaborative group environment as they review course materials.

Ideal candidates:

• Enrolled as a current student at Capilano University for the duration of the contract and must be in a good academic standing
• Successfully completed BFIN 141 and/or BADM 210 with a grade of B or higher
• Successfully completed BCPT 123 with a grade of B or higher
• Strong organizational and time management skills for planning group study sessions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to encourage students to become confident independent learners
• Energetic hardworking punctual and reliable individual with the ability to take initiative
• Demonstrates enthusiasm accountability willingness to learn and open to new ideas

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for student employment a student must be in good academic standing with the University. Good standing is defined as having aGPAof 2.0 and no current notations regarding academic standing student conduct or outstanding fees per policy S2003-003 Academic Standing a copy of which can be found on the Universitys website.

Domestic students must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of two or more (6 credits) courses at Capilano University throughout the work term; international students must: during the fall and winter semesters be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 9 credits at Capilano University throughout the work term; have a valid Study Permit.

Student employees are not required to be enrolled in courses during the summer term to maintain eligibility for employment; however they must have been enrolled in a minimum of six credits during the preceding spring term. Furthermore international students must abide by the terms of their work or study visas.

Students who complete their studies in the spring or summer terms may have their appointments extended until August 31 of the same year; students who complete their studies in the fall term may have their appointments extended until December 31 of the same year.
