POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Special Authorization Analyst (12 Month Term) you will play an integral role in the authorization of prescription drugs for claimants using various modes of communication and online technology. You will remain current with respect to policy and procedure changes and liaise closely with Pharmacy Consultants colleagues and our client WCB Nova Scotia. The primary goal of the Special Authorization unit is to process requests for prescription drugs that require prior approval based on the claimants compensability.

Work Schedule 37.5 hours/week Monday to Friday Core Hours 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (Atlantic)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review analyze and make appropriate decisions on special authorization requests following

  • WCB Nova Scotia policy and guidelines.

  • Prepare fax and mail communications to prescribers and claimants regarding the outcomes of

  • their requests.

  • Answer phone inquiries from prescribers in a timely and professional manner.

  • Adhere to and follow all policies defined by WCB Nova Scotia.

  • Maintain service levels as defined by WCB Nova Scotia to ensure contractual obligations are met.

  • Develop and maintain accurate procedural documentation to support ongoing operations.

  • Maintain tracking records and ensure data integrity through quality assurance practices.

  • Organize work and information to ensure requests are processed accurately and efficiently.

  • Use business knowledge and experience to problem-solve and support service delivery.

  • Provide operational support to Provincial Programs as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary Pharmacy Technician or Assistant program or equivalent experience. Knowledge of medical terminology considered an asset.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of experience in a pharmacy environment or a similar role where drug analysis and client relationships were key requirements. Knowledge of claims adjudication systems is considered an asset.

Communication

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills with experience dealing with the public and health professionals.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel) with strong keyboarding and data entry skills. Comfortable navigating multiple software applications and internet-based systems simultaneously.

Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask prioritize and manage workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Language: Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset; English required.

Pay Range:

46292 - 52078 CAD

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge skills qualifications experience and education/ addition to Base Pay eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
