The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee and coordinate multiple high-priority IT initiatives across enterprise environments. The successful candidate will provide leadership in project delivery vendor coordination stakeholder engagement governance reporting and operational transition planning.
This role involves managing concurrent technology projects related to:
- Service Desk automation and intelligence enhancements
- Boardroom as a Service expansion initiatives
- AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) usage review and optimization
- IT operational modernization initiatives
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership communication organizational and stakeholder management skills with experience delivering large-scale custom software and enterprise IT projects.
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent IT projects from initiation to closure
- Define project scope objectives timelines deliverables and resource requirements
- Develop and maintain project documentation including:
- Project charters
- Business cases
- Status reports
- Risk logs
- Dashboards
- Project closure documents
- Project charters
- Coordinate project schedules governance activities and vendor deliverables
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions and executive-level meetings
- Monitor project risks issues dependencies and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with business and IT leadership to align project outcomes with organizational objectives
- Support procurement coordination and vendor onboarding activities
- Provide change management and communication planning support
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and project management standards
- Prepare executive reporting and steering committee presentations
- Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve project reporting efficiency and productivity
Candidates must meet ONE of the following education and experience combinations:
- University degree in Business Management or related field with 4 years of Project Management experienceOR
- Two-year diploma in Business Management or related field with 6 years of Project Management experienceOR
- One-year certificate in Business Management or related field with 7 years of Project Management experienceOR
- 8 years of Project Management experience
- 6 years defining project scope and goals with business stakeholders
- 8 years developing project deliverables and documentation
- 8 years managing multiple concurrent projects
- 6 years managing large complex custom software development projects in enterprise environments
- 5 years conducting impact and risk assessments
- 4 years managing project forecasts using Microsoft Project
- 5 years developing executive and stakeholder relationships
- 2 years supporting government-wide or vendor-wide IM/IT initiatives
- 8 years facilitating stakeholder meetings at all organizational levels
- 5 years leading change management and communication planning
- 6 years managing projects using formal project lifecycle methodologies
- 3 years public sector experience
- 3 years working on Transition Service Desk projects
- 3 years experience with AI-driven support systems call management strategies and contact center technologies
- Primarily remote within Canada
- Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton may be required
- Candidates must provide their own equipment
- Microsoft Teams is the primary collaboration tool
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Criminal record check may be required
- Completion of mandatory Government of Alberta training upon onboarding
