Senior Mechanical Designer
Job Summary
AECOM Buildings Places Canada is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer for our Edmonton AB office offering opportunities for hybrid work.
AECOM Buildings Places Canada (BP Canada) is a dynamic fully integrated team that brings together architecture building engineering disciplines economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. We work on various assignments including water transit municipal commercial institutional justice education and government projects.
As a Senior Mechanical Designer you will play a vital role in supporting the design coordination and delivery of mechanical building systems across diverse projects. You will collaborate with engineers designers and project teams throughout Canada contributing to advanced mechanical design development detailed documentation and field support.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D Revit BIM models and drafting for building mechanical systems.
- Develop mechanical system layouts and detailed design drawings using drafting and 3D BIM tools.
- Transform sketches notes and mark-ups into polished high-quality design documents.
- Assist with engineering calculations equipment schedules and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Contribute to project specification preparation and maintain complete project documentation including quality review files and drawing packages.
- Prepare and submit drawing packages for project review.
- Ensure designs meet code requirements quality standards and project-specific performance criteria.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to achieve project milestones and deadlines.
- Use collaboration software platforms such as ProjectWise BIM360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Self-review drawings and models before submission.
- Provide field inspection and construction administration support as needed.
- Collaborate in a team environment working with colleagues across disciplines and office locations.
- Work independently while meeting defined milestones and deadlines.
- Engage in both office and field settings as required.
Qualifications :
Qualifications
- College diploma in Engineering Technology plus a minimum of four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in 3D Revit/BIM drafting.
- Ability to obtain or hold Secret Level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 20 years of experience with consulting firms.
- CET designation or progress toward certification.
- Proven ability to develop drawings from conceptual design through to detailed design.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit Family/BIM applications.
- Knowledge of AB & BC Building Codes ASHRAE 90.1 ASHRAE 62.1 NFPA 13 and other relevant design standards.
- Field experience supporting contract administration.
