As a key contributor you will provide financial analysis accounting expertise and leadership on reporting tax and process improvement initiatives while partnering with stakeholders across the organization. You will work in our office in Waterloo ON a minimum of two (2) assigned consecutive days every other week plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum youll do:Provide financial analysis forecasting insights accounting guidance and support to staff management and business partners on complex accounting reporting and financial control in business unit and corporate projects system changes and PeopleSoft support activities to maintain data integrity enhance reporting processes and improve financial controls and operational monthly financial reporting activities including general ledger accounting management reporting journal entries accruals and the preparation of reports for senior management and the Board of opportunities and implement accounting and finance process improvements and automationPerform monthly quarterly and annual reinsurance settlements reporting and accounting activities including responding to industry reinsurance statistical information requests and process and reconcile payments related to Third Party Claims Payers and Third-Party Health Connector Providers while reconciling bank accounts for EFT PAD cheque and online payment reconcile and investigate Group accounting working papers tax accounts and financial records ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies and response to audit inquiries while maintaining strong internal as the Group Tax Team Coordinator leading a cross-functional team to ensure tax changes are appropriately implemented across the Group division and reconciled accurately within the general youll bring:Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or international equivalent) and minimum 3 years of relevant financial reporting and analytical skills with the ability to prepare reports for management and Board-level audiences and translate complex financial information into actionable accounting and controls expertise including account reconciliations internal controls accounting policy development risk mitigation and documentation of ability to understand interpret and communicate the key drivers of business results to cross functional stakeholders and senior ability to partner with cross-functional Internal and External stakeholders to resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues provide recommendations and support sound business developing and maintaining accounting models improving and automating processes and participating in projects that impact accounting financial reporting or business and mentorship capabilities with the ability to train coach and support other finance and accounting team members while delivering timely accurate relevant and concise financial information and budgeting insights to supporting financial reporting changes and maintaining compliance with IFRS OSFI CLHIA and other regulatory requirements including the implementation of new accounting to assess and implement tax-related changes across the in it for you:Career Growth: Regular learning sessions and developmentopportunitiesTotal Rewards: Incentive pay annual salary reviews employer-paid benefits and pensionmatchingTime Away: Competitive vacation plus one paid volunteer day each yearFlexibility: Healthy work-life balance with employee wellness always top of mind complemented by a dress for your day approachAt Equitable were committed to fair pay and an inclusive accessible hiring experience.
