This is a Senior Data Governance & Migration Lead role for an upcoming Government of Nova Scotia opportunity expected to start in October 2026 and run for at least 1 year. Working as a member of a team responsible for delivering Information technology (IT) data and records management the successful candidate will work directly with police agencies and relevant public safety partners to audit and assess the current-state records and data environments ranging from data governance practices to data integration on existing IT systems and to directly lead the implementation of a comprehensive data standardization cleaning and migration plan for both digital and paper records. The goal is to prepare all agencies for data and records migration to a new URMS (Unified Records Management System) under The Department of Justices Police Modernization Unit. Specifically this role calls for someone with hands-on enterprise data migration experience not a PM not a cybersecurity resource not a high-level data architect.

• Audit and assess current-state records and data environments ranging from data governance practices to data integration on existing IT systems
• Directly lead the implementation of a comprehensive data standardization cleaning and migration plan for both digital and paper records
• Prepare all agencies for data and records migration to a new URMS (Unified Records Management System) under The Department of Justices Police Modernization Unit
• Work directly with police agencies and relevant public safety partners throughout the engagement

• Cleansing remediation and deduplication
• Source-to-target mapping and transformation
• Data validation and reconciliation
• Metadata data dictionaries and common standards
• Data governance stewardship and business rules
• Migration sequencing testing and implementation readiness
• Working across multiple systems or organizations with inconsistent data

• Records or information management experience would be an asset
• Background in public sector healthcare financial services utilities or other regulated environments is relevant and preferred
• Local (Nova Scotia) candidates preferred; out-of-province candidates are also considered
