Second Cook, Banquets (Full-Time, Contract)
Job Summary
We invite you to join the world of hospitality at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire as our new Banquet Second Cook. The Second Cook plays a key role in assisting with banquet food preparation and culinary operations while developing stronger culinary techniques and production skills.
Please note that this is a contract position for the period from September 1 2026 to December 31 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Banquet Food Preparation
- Prepare food items for banquet events including plated meals and buffet service.
- Assist with mise en place preparation for upcoming events.
- Maintain knowledge of banquet menu items and ingredients.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain clean and organized workstations.
- Ensure proper product storage and rotation.
- Assist with production setup for large-scale banquet events.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with team during service.
- Support plating operations during banquet execution.
- Participate in shift briefings and production discussions.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensure safe handling of kitchen equipment.
Qualifications :
What will you bring to this role
- Minimum 2 years culinary experience developing cooking techniques for banquet production station prep and ingredient preparation.
- Working towards Journeyperson/Red Seal certification.
- Food Handler certification required.
- Culinary diploma considered an asset.
- Ability to manage prep tasks independently while supporting event production timelines with the ability to increase speed and efficiency in high-volume service.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during event preparation.
- Frequent lifting pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high-temperature kitchen environment.
