The Residence Life Coordinator reports directly to the Manager Residence Services. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the residence life program for an assigned residence community including the achievement of a high standard of community living that facilitates positive and directed student development. The incumbent is responsible for incorporating research regarding student development theory into their work residence life best practices and contemporary student leadership practices and apply this knowledge to the creation of short- and longer-term operational plans for the Residence Life program. The incumbent actively recruits trains and manages paraprofessional staff and student leadership programs with effective goal setting and high standards for community development and personal growth. The incumbent is an excellent mentor for student leaders and will experience significant opportunities to promote develop and implement contemporary student leadership practices for Mount Royal University. The incumbent will be closely linked to their community and respond to community/personal needs and assess the needs of the greater residence community through excellent programming effective counseling and hands-on leadership.
Note: There is a mandatory live-in requirement for this position in an assigned private suite within the residence complex which is considered a taxable benefit. Assignment to this unit requires participation in a 24-hour on call rotation for student support and emergency response in Residence.
- Direct student and community development based on the values and mission statement of Residence Services
- Foster a living-learning environment whereby student academic success is a key focus.
- Recruit train and supervise para-professional staff.
- Advise all student leadership programs including the Residence Activities Council.
- Liaise with academic and service departments within the University to support student para-professional staff and community needs.
- Oversee all programming initiatives including para-professional staff and student leadership events and activities.
- Be actively visible in the assigned student community and provide individual support and guidance for student issues and concerns.
- Manage the residence student judicial process.
- Participate in a 24x7 shared on-call support system
- Provide emergency crisis response.
- Undergraduate degree required along with a minimum of 2 years progressive experience in residence life or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience (particularly in a residence setting).
- Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
- Excellent communication interpersonal organizational and conflict management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision and program presentation.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word Excel and Power Point.
Salary: $66193.40 - $83738.20
