Position: Quality Assurance Data Controller (Steel Products)

Job Overview:

Surespan Structures is seeking a Quality Assurance Data Controller to join our team in Duncan BC. This is an opportunity for a young/new professional to take a large part in structural steel fabrication contributing directly to the successful delivery of high-profile infrastructure across Canada.

This role is best suited for a results-driven Data Controller who thrives in a collaborative environment understands steel fabrication and materials and is looking to play a meaningful role in ensuring materials and product are made to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance

  • Assist with receiving and confirming steel materials and supplies coming in meet specifications and match dimensions and quantities
  • Assist in confirming welding procedures training & keeping certifications up to date
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
  • Oversee:
    • Mill certs
    • Task completion in production and quality control
    • Quality document control
    • Development of ITPs
    • Production of Quality Reports for submission to clients
  • Maintain clear proactive communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Support cost-effective project delivery through strong coordination and managing quality holdpoints

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project managers production consultants and suppliers
  • Contribute to a positive team-oriented culture
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and project outcomes
  • Support team success through collaboration accountability and shared goals

Performance Expectations:

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production-driven environment
  • Maintain a high level of organization accountability and attention to detail

Requirements:

  • Experience and/or knowledge in structural steel or heavy civil/bridge projects (some fabrication experience preferred)
  • Experience with of drawings specifications shop drawings and project controls
  • Experience in quality control/assurance
  • All applicants must be located in Canada and eligible/permitted to work in Canada.

Location of Employment:

Based at the Surespan Structures office in Duncan British Columbia supporting projects across Canada.

Compensation:

$60000 $80000 per year final salary will be based on experience.

Extended Health & Dental Group Benefits after 3 months of employment.
