Your Purpose
Reporting to the Director People this temporary People Coordinator position will support the People Department in delivering operational excellence across the University Hospital Foundation (the Foundation) with a primary focus on volunteer management for the Foundations Festival of Trees signature addition the People Coordinator will support the day-to-day People operations including recruitment and onboarding employee records and HRIS data offboarding and culture and engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a people-first approach to supporting volunteers employees and leaders who seek to advance health in our community.
Specific Accountabilities
Volunteer Management
- Manage the recruitment onboarding and engagement of volunteers who contribute to the Foundations Signature Events (e.g. Festival of Trees) and various fundraising initiatives.
- Maintain volunteer records schedules and communications to ensure a positive and organized volunteer experience.
- Collaborate with leaders to understand volunteer needs and ensure appropriate placement and support.
- Assist with recognition initiatives that celebrate volunteer contributions and strengthen long-term engagement.
- Ensure volunteer practices align with organizational policies and safety standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries before and during Festival of Trees.
HR Administration & Recruitment
- Assist with full cycle recruitment for Foundation roles ensuring an inclusive and values aligned hiring process from talent acquisition to new hire onboarding.
- Support onboarding for new hires that creates a welcoming engaging and consistent experience for new employees.
- Assist with employee offboarding procedures ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Maintain accurate employee records HRIS data and documentation in alignment with privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Provide administrative support across day-to-day People operations and initiatives.
- Support initiatives that strengthen organizational culture employee engagement diversity and employee wellness.
- Support performance management and compensation program administration.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and Foundation policies.
- Assist with the coordination of employee benefits programs including health and wellness.
- Support the coordination implementation and ongoing improvement of People systems processes and tools to enhance efficiency accuracy and employee experience.
Qualifications
Education:
- Postsecondary education in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
Experience:
- 1- 3 years of progressive experience in human resources ideally within nonprofit or healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Volunteer management experience is considered and asset.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment and HR operations.
- Exceptional communication relationship building and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic changing collaborative and purpose driven environment.
- Experience with ADP is an asset.
- Competence in and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
