Position Information:

Durham College is seeking anexperienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality andstudent success. Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL) requires apart-time facilitator to teach Math for Nursing course(s) entitled Math forPractical Nurses; Foundational Math for Nursing or Math for NursingFundamentals. These courses are delivered online through OntarioLearn.

Important note for Part-Time Facilitator applicants:
Part-time recruitment is ongoing and isdependent on when courses are being offered and the need for staff to -time staff will facilitate up to 6 hours per week. • Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates studentsdiverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individuallearning styles;
• Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students inthe learning process;
• Effectively using educational technologies to support learning as wellas managing and posting grades;
• Execute and develop a curriculum that uses appropriate strategies andtools to assess and deepen student learning;
• Ensuring that all course content is current and relevant;
• Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
• Working effectively with students the program team and a variety ofinternal and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of recent health orhealthcare experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;
• Holds a Masters degree (or higher) in healthpromotion public health sciences or a related addition a
• Bachelors or Master of Education is considered an asset;
• Hold current registration with the College ofNurses of Ontario;
• Experience directly related to teachingmathematical concepts and calculationsas they apply to the nursingclinical practice setting;
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level orwithin a healthcare environment with the demonstrated application of adulteducational principles and teaching/assessment methodologies;
• Teaching experience in a fully online environment;
• Superior skills in the areas of verbal and writtencommunication interpersonal skills critical thinking and problem-solving;
• Excellent organizational and time managementskills;
• Track record in meeting deadlines;
• Experienced in the use of technology to supportstudent learning and manage grades;
• Self-motivated and independent worker who alsofunctions well in a team environment;
• Committed to life-long learning;
• Understanding of the Ontario community collegesystem.
