About the Position
The Manager Video Production is responsible for the conceptualization coordination and creation of video content produced under MaRS Communication for social media MaRS events marketing campaigns ventures PRA clients internal video content and other miscellaneous video are looking for a creative curious and hardworking videographer to take on an eight-month contract.
Key Responsibilities
Conception: With the help and input of the Director of Content the Manager Video Production develops the editorial and creative vision for MaRS video content. This includes developing video briefs pitching series ideas storyboards and the development of the overall video strategy.
Pre-Production: Developing the brief with the Content Producer and then contacting and communicating with sources conducting pre-interviews selecting speakers location scouting coordinating logistics as well as renting camera equipment studio spaces and talent.
Production: On-set multi-camera operation and cinematography for interviews and b-roll interviewing talent directing talent lighting on-set audio recording set decoration training co-workers and conducting remote interviews.
Post-Production: data management story editing acquiring video and musical stock assets motion graphics graphic design basic animation photo retouching audio editing and mastering colour correction closed captioning and subtitles revisions and final deliveries.
Misc. As video producers we are often asked to do miscellaneous tasks this includes help with audio and video recording for podcasts and events camera and equipment maintenance equipment procurement physically moving and storage of camera equipment organizing digital libraries voicing narration mixing podcasts filling out permits and consent forms.
Qualifications
Some post-secondary
Degree in film broadcasting journalism or communications degree
7 years of professional video production
7 years of professional video production with an emphasis on short-format documentary journalism education content or corporate videography an asset
Nice to have
Knowledge and experience with camera operation and cinematography
Ability to multitask and work with short deadlines
Interpersonal communication skills for interviewing and pre-production
Proficiency with using audio recording equipment
Knowledge of lighting
Video editing experience with Adobe Premiere
