Job Summary
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Rapid Transit Operations Department is seeking a Manager Operational Readiness to manage the launch of multi-billion-dollar LRT and subway projects. You will lead the development and management of readiness from the project planning phase through to entering service with a focus on transition and change management-related activities required for successful launch of each RT project. This role will work with business leadership to serve as an expert resource to ensure Rapid Transit lines are safe reliable and meet the readiness and customer experience objectives of Metrolinx
What will I be doing
Deliver operational readiness with a focus on the delivery of readiness requirements and activities to ensure a smooth transition for each Rapid Transit line as it approaches entry into service
Responsible for the overall planning management and implementation of readiness activities including but not limited to mobilization testing and handover milestones across all key workstreams
Lead and facilitate collaborative strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagements such as requirements gathering development of plans processes and tools etc. with a diverse inclusive and multi-disciplined team including all business partners.
Ensure an integrated and aggregated view of all related readiness activities across the overall transition management function providing escalations recommendations and decision support to leadership
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners project teams operators and executive stakeholders serving as the primary point of coordination for readiness-related communications and decision-making.
Provide direction and oversight to a diverse team of professionals in various disciplines such as Capital Projects Group Commercial Performance Management Engineering & Asset Management Operations & Maintenance and Safety subject matter experts.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
Completion of a degree in Business or Engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
Demonstrated experience in the transportation and/or public transit sector which includes managing/leading a group of frontline staff and/or managing projects ideally within the public sector
Project Management Professional (PMP) Lean Six Sigma PROSCI Change Management Certification and/or ACMP Certified Change Management Professional are assets.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships to work across divisions and with internal and external stakeholders/clients.
Project management and coordination skills to provide senior leadership and oversight to staff and project teams within budget and schedule restraints and monitor performance.
Strong proficiency with MS Project Visio Word Excel PowerPoint and other data management tools (SharePoint etc.)
Working Conditions:
Requires regular travelling (at least twice a week) throughout the GTHA and be available outside of regular office hours to maintain business relationships and address issues as they arise.
The position will also be required to visit a transit operating environment including train facilities and track alignment above and below grade. PPE IS REQUIRED whilst at the work site.
