The Learning Technology Support Specialist (LTSS) provides front-line support coaching and guidance to students and employees (including faculty) on a wide range of academic and learning technologies. The role supports digital fluency digital literacy and technology adoption by assisting users with tools that may include but are not limited to the learning management system Microsoft 365 Respondus Turnitin H5P Nearpod Kaltura digital textbooks 3D printing robotics gaming VR/XR and other emerging technologies. Support is delivered through multiple service channels including in-person virtual email chat Teams a ticketing system workshops events and accessible self-service resources. This role reports to the Associate Dean Centre for Teaching & Learning Innovation (CTLI).
This position is required to work fully in-person.
What youll be doing:
- Provides technical support coaching workshops and resources for students and employees including faculty using college-supported academic technologies including but not limited to: MyCanvas Microsoft 365 Respondus Turnitin H5P NearPod Kaltura digital textbooks 3D printing gaming VR/XR and related tools.
- Responds to support requests by quickly assessing user needs recommending solutions and resources resolving issues within scope and referring requests to appropriate CTLI staff or college departments as required.
- Triages and responds to support tickets in a timely manner ensuring high-quality customer service effective communication and appropriate follow-up.
- Proactively identify trends in support requests and recommend user-facing solutions to improve departmental practices events and resources.
- Demonstrates and supports the use of learning technology hardware and software including 3D printing VR/XR podcasting robotics and other digital literacy initiatives.
- Participates in technology pilots troubleshooting digital skills initiatives and learning technology projects in collaboration with CTLI Information Technology Security and other partners.
- Collaborates with CTLI colleagues and institutional partners to support the administration governance and continuous improvement of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other educational technologies.
- Contributes to testing communications documentation implementation planning and processes related to the adoption enhancement and retirement of educational technologies.
- Develops resources for departmental events workshops orientations open houses information sessions and outreach activities that promote CTLI services.
- Consistently engages in collaborative problem finding and problem solving to support learning experiences and digital literacy within CTLIs scope of influence.
- Maintains current knowledge of emerging educational technologies digital tools and trends and contributes recommendations to enhance digital skills development and support services.
Supporting Service Points Resources and Community Engagement
- Staff CTLI spaces including the Digital Creativity Centre (DCC) other CTLI spaces and pop-up service points and events at all campuses with a focus on supporting digital skill adoption learning technology digital literacy learning environments and meaningful explorations of tools and technologies for students and employees including faculty.
- Recommends develops and maintains support resources workshop materials and knowledgebase content in alignment with departmental standards and templates.
- Supports the lending monitoring inventory accuracy fee recovery usage tracking and maintenance of equipment services and technology to ensure equitable access and responsible use.
- Provides tours and orientations of the DCC for students employees community groups visitors and recruitment activities.
- Explores recommends and creates engaging learning activities displays and promotional content that support digital literacy student engagement wellness and belonging.
- Maintains a welcoming organized safe and professional DCC environment by monitoring space usage assisting users implementing inclusive practices managing inquiries and supporting appropriate conduct.
- Collaborates with CTLI colleagues to identify and share trends recurring issues and opportunities for improvement related to learning technology digital skills and CTLI services.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with other departments in the college including IT the Registrars Office MSA Social Inc Learning Support Centre Library and others in support of CTLI priorities and the experiences of the student and employees supported by the department.

What youll bring to the role:
- 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Sciences Communications Graphic Design Multi-Media Interactive Media User Experience Design Education or related industries.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience with:
- Customer service
- Providing written and verbal technical support
- Workshop facilitation/presentation skills
- Documentation and notetaking
- Creating accessible documents and learning assets
- Creating technical support resources
- Learning Management Systems and other ed technologies
- Inventory and asset maintenance
- Creating multimedia assets (preferred)
- Supporting exploratory fabrication and technical play e.g. 3D printing robotics prototyping (preferred)
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights equity diversity inclusion and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students employees and communities.
