The Opportunity Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional to join our Calgary Alberta office. The successful candidate will serve as a project management leader: working directly with watershed and water resource clients collaborating with multidisciplinary teams mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development efforts across Alberta and Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute projects in the areas of Watershed Management Water Resources Strategy and Integrated Planning.
  • Regularly engage with clients on all project matters for the full project life cycle.
  • Responsible for project controls and internal systems.
  • Plan workshops and lead facilitated meetings and group conversations.
  • Lead project teams of junior and / or technical resources.
  • Prioritize and delegate assignments.
  • Support proposal development as requested.
  • Engage in client development and management supported by local offices

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or environmental sciences. Masters degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Environmental Professional
  • 7-10 years experience including at least 5 years project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills self-motivation organization and attention to detail
  • Superior technical writing skills
  • Experience and confidence in meeting facilitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks water licensing and water-related Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and cascading regulations.
  • Experience in an engineering consulting organization a significant asset
