General Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must know all relevant SSOP and MWI for the department and equipment they are operating.
• Assist the Furnace Operator to degrease and anneal tubes/pipes as detailed instructions by the operator and perform tasks in a safe and productive manner.
• Assist the Draw Bench Operator to swage sink or draw tubes as operator will provide the necessary training. Follow detailed instructions very closely in order to function safely and productively.
• Assist the Stainless Cut-Off Operator to deburr tubes/pipes. Follow detailed instructions provided by the operator.
• Assist the Production Inspector to line mark and pack tubes/pipes as inspector will give the training and delegating of job assignments.
• Operate the cutter in the Small Diameter Department following operating guidelines safely and effectively.
• Understand respect and work within all company policies and guidelines.
• Maintain a safe clean and accessible work centre at all times.
• When necessary change in shifts may be required.

AUTHORITIES:

• Ensure proper material is available to complete the job.
• Any issues related to quality operations and safety are to be reported to the department Leadhand and/or Supervisor.

• Accomplishes job assignments with minimal supervision with a genuine effort to achieve production expectations.
• Works co-operatively with other employees.
• Demonstrates the ability to understand and follow instructions from supervisor.
• Demonstrates reliability and commitment to assisting the operator at an assigned work centre and works diligently towards operator recognition.
• Completion of a criminal background check as required by CTPAT requirements.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

• Demonstrates a positive attitude towards safety and models safety for other employees at all times.
• Understand that it is mandatory to use and/or wear all personal protective equipment provided by the Company.
• Reports all accidents incidents and near misses and supports in determining corrective actions to eliminate workplace hazards.
• Practices safe work habits as detailed in Samuels/ATCs safety policies procedures C.S.A and the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario.
• Understands and completes necessary health & safety training through Samuels Safety Training program and ensures renewal training is completed as per company requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or equivalent experience.
• Good verbal written and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.

The expected compensation range for this position is $23/hr - $24/hr. This range includes base pay and target variable pay. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location skills education and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for the role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth.
