Forward Deployed Engineer

emergiTEL is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer for our client in the Software industry. This is a Permanent role.

Compensation: $185000 - $240000/year
Location: Toronto Canada

Job Description (English)

About the Role

• Work directly with portfolio companies to understand operational challenges and identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven automation and agentic software.
• Embed with client organizations and serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout deployment and adoption.
• Build deploy and optimize production-grade agentic systems that deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Design and develop integrations automation workflows prompts evaluations user interfaces and supporting backend services.
• Travel to portfolio company locations as needed to support implementations stakeholder alignment and operational success.
• Monitor deployed solutions adjust autonomy levels and ensure successful transition to operational teams once stable.
• Capture best practices and reusable deployment patterns to accelerate future implementations across the portfolio.

Candidate Profile

• 36 years of experience in full-stack software engineering product engineering solutions engineering agentic engineering or forward deployed engineering.
• Strong generalist engineer capable of owning end-to-end delivery across frontend backend data infrastructure and deployment.
• Experience building and operating production AI LLM or agentic software solutions for real users and business workflows including evaluations autonomy controls and outcome tracking.
• AI-native builder who actively leverages AI development tools coding assistants and software agents to automate manual workflows and accelerate delivery.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript or Python React and SQL.
• Experience programming in Go and TypeScript is highly desirable.
• Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively with executives operators and business stakeholders.
• Strong executive presence and polished communication skills with the ability to confidently engage C-Suite leaders General Managers and operational stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous non-technical business problems into scoped practical technical solutions.
• Comfortable working in a high-performance environment with exceptionally high hiring standards.
• Experience with AI-native development tools automation platforms and software agents is highly valued.
• Comfortable traveling and working on-site with portfolio companies 23 days per week as needed.

Preferred Background

• Experience working with portfolio companies consulting environments private equity-backed businesses or vertical SaaS organizations.
• Prior experience in customer-facing engineering roles such as Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Agent Engineer Agentic Engineer Solutions Engineer or Deployment Engineer.
• Strong professional tenure with well-known startups or high-growth technology companies.
• Experience shipping production systems rather than only prototypes or demonstrations.
• Founders founding engineers and highly entrepreneurial candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Excellent academic pedigree with strong analytical ability and a track record of technical excellence.
• Ability to travel to portfolio company locations as required.
