Oxford Learning West Vancouver is looking for a positive patient and enthusiastic Elementary Reading Writing & Math Tutor to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for university students recent graduates education students experienced tutors and educators who enjoy working with children.

Teaching certification is not required.

Youll work with elementary-aged students in a supportive small-group environment typically working with up to three students at a time.

Students follow individualized Oxford Learning programs designed to strengthen their academic skills confidence and independence.

Depending on student needs youll help with areas such as:

• Reading and phonics
• Reading comprehension
• Vocabulary
• Grammar
• Sentence and paragraph writing
• Spelling
• Elementary math
• Study and learning skills

All programming and teaching materials are provided so there is no lesson planning required.

Were looking for someone who:

• Genuinely enjoys working with children
• Is warm patient positive and encouraging
• Has strong English communication skills
• Is comfortable with elementary reading writing and math
• Can explain concepts clearly and in different ways
• Is dependable and punctual
• Is willing to learn and receive feedback
• Is currently completing or has completed post-secondary education
• Can commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year

Previous experience tutoring teaching coaching mentoring babysitting working at camps or otherwise working with children is an asset.

Formal classroom teaching experience is not required.

Job Type:Part-Time

Salary: $22 $30 / hour depending on qualifications experience subjects and availability

We are currently looking for candidates who can consistently work at least 2 days per week.

Weekday shifts: approximately 3:30PM6:30 PM
Saturday shifts: also available

Consistent availability throughout the school year is strongly preferred.

• A university student looking for meaningful part-time work
• A recent graduate
• An education student
• An English psychology linguistics child development or related student/graduate
• An education assistant
• An experienced tutor
• A teacher looking for additional part-time hours
• Someone with experience coaching mentoring or working with children
• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory
