The Role

We are seeking a full-time permanent Electrical Drafter to support the design and documentation of industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience creating electrical schematics panel layouts wiring diagrams cable schedules and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for PLC-based control systems and industrial control panels. This role requires strong attention to detail technical drafting expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering manufacturing and project teams to deliver compliant and cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and revise electrical schematics wiring diagrams single-line diagrams terminal plans loop diagrams control panel layouts cable drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for industrial automation and control systems.
• Develop detailed manufacturing drawing packages for Industrial Control Panels (ICPs) PLC control panels remote I/O panels marshalling panels operator consoles motor control interfaces and junction boxes.
• Convert engineering concepts markups sketches specifications and field redlines into accurate CAD drawings.
• Create panel layouts including component placement wireway sizing clearance verification heat dissipation considerations and enclosure selection.
• Generate cable schedules interconnection drawings network topology diagrams I/O lists and instrument connection details.
• Develop and maintain project documentation drawing registers revision control records manufacturing instructions and assembly procedures.
• Produce and maintain BOMs including panel components field devices instrumentation networking equipment and power distribution hardware.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers controls engineers instrumentation specialists mechanical designers procurement and production teams to resolve design and documentation issues.
• Work closely with panel fabrication shops and outsourced manufacturers to address technical questions and incorporate manufacturing feedback.
• Perform drawing quality reviews and ensure compliance with project specifications customer standards and applicable electrical codes.
• Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and troubleshooting activities in Calgary location when required.
