Job Summary


A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Director Digital Engagement The Digital Communications Officer serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert for Advancements event technology ecosystem including event registration platforms check-in solutions and event applications. The role is responsible for the administration governance and optimization of these systems ensuring they effectively support engagement activities across the division.

Working closely with partners throughout Advancement the Digital Communications Officer provides strategic guidance training and technical support to promote consistent and effective use of event technologies. This includes configuring and supporting event registration experiences establishing and maintaining standards for data quality accessibility and user experience and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and best practices.

The role also oversees platform functionality identifies opportunities for process improvement and system enhancement develops documentation and governance frameworks and serves as a key liaison between business users and Advancement constituents to support the successful delivery of event-related digital solutions.

In addition the Digital Communications Officer conducts market research and surveys and leverages analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of digital marketing event and engagement strategies. The role analyzes trends in event participation and constituent engagement producing reports insights and recommendations that inform decision-making and strengthen future communications and engagement plans. The role also supports event coding by ensuring partners submit and maintain up-to-date coding while monitoring and reporting on coding to support a consistent digital event experience. The position also provides support for email marketing and website initiatives as required.

Job Description

What you will do

  • Creates implements and regularly updates digital marketing plans for the units programs teams and/or events.
  • Initiates and conducts market research and surveys and leverages analytics to monitor the effectiveness of the units online marketing strategies.
  • Develops reports and generates insights and recommendations to inform and improve upon the units digital marketing strategies and plans.
  • Recommend and develop policies procedures guidelines and templates for consistency in use across the unit.
  • Develops monitors and administers social media marketing budget.
  • Oversees review and implements website strategy and digital marketing projects.
  • Coordinates workflow between the unit and third parties.
  • Provide oversight of event technology systems including registration check-in tools and applications ensuring consistent configuration and alignment with institutional standards.
  • Oversees casual and student staff who work in support of the initiatives in the unit.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or addition requires trade certification qualification or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
    Required Experience
    • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
      • Experience developing and managing marketing plans considered an asset.
      • Experience developing coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset.
      • Experience in client and/or customer experience functions considered an asset.
      • Experience in data trend analysis and reporting considered an asset.
      • Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
      • Experience working in a comparable client-focused environment considered an asset
      • Experience with assessing emerging trends technologies electronic platforms and potential digital business opportunities considered an asset (e.g. social media etc.).
    Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
