Cost Consultant (QS)

Job Description

You will be a Quantity Surveyor / Consultant within our Infrastructure business working as part of our Cost Assurance team to support clients in reviewing and scrutinizing actual incurred costs and identifying opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency and project outcomes across major programs and projects.

The main purpose of the role is to:

• Support the delivery of Cost Assurance commissions for a range of infrastructure clients.
• Assist in the review and assessment of project costs contractor submissions and supporting documentation.
• Analyze construction contracts and commercial arrangements including Design-Build Alliance NEC and other procurement models.
• Perform testing and validation of cost data using analytical techniques and tools including data visualization and trend analysis.
• Support the preparation of clear concise and professional client reports including findings observations and recommendations.
• Develop an understanding of cost entitlement contract compliance and financial controls within large capital projects.
• Build effective working relationships with clients contractors and project stakeholders through professionalism and collaboration.
• Collaborate with team members across disciplines to deliver high-quality client outcomes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Cost Assurance methodologies tools and knowledge sharing initiatives.
• Stay informed of industry best practices market trends and emerging technologies relevant to cost assurance and infrastructure delivery.
• Support senior team members in the delivery of complex reviews and client engagements.

Qualifications :

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying Construction Management Engineering Accounting Finance or a related field.
• Typically 3-6 years of relevant post-graduate experience in quantity surveying cost management commercial management audit advisory or construction-related services.
• Understanding of construction industry practices and commercial principles including procurement routes and contract administration.
• Experience reviewing project costs change management processes forecasting and financial controls.
• Knowledge of common procurement methods including Design and Build Target Price Lump Sum Cost Plus GMP and Alliance contracting models.
• Familiarity with construction contracts and commercial documentation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and draw insights from large datasets.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI Tableau Excel or similar platforms is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Progress toward or membership in a relevant professional body (e.g. CIQS PQS RICS CPA or equivalent) is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

The base salary range for this full-time role is $75000 - $120000 per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range depending on candidates experience and qualifications.
