Job Summary
COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR
The Vancouver Island Crisis Society (VICS) is seeking an organized community-minded professional to join our Community Education team as a Community Education Program Administrator.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating programs supporting community education initiatives building relationships and making a meaningful impact through suicide prevention crisis intervention and community engagement.
Working closely with the Community Education Program Manager youll help coordinate workshops training programs community outreach activities and administrative processes that support the delivery of high-quality education programs throughout Vancouver Island.
This position also provides opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills through facilitation mentorship and professional development in community education and suicide prevention.
What Youll Do:
As the Community Education Program Administrator youll support the delivery and coordination of Community Education initiatives by:
Community Education & Training
Support the planning coordination and delivery of community education workshops and training programs.
Facilitate or co-facilitate community education sessions as appropriate and under the guidance of the Community Education Program Manager.
Support safeTALK workshops as a community support person.
Participate in suicide bereavement services lay counselling and other Community Education programs as appropriate to your training and experience.
Community Engagement
Represent VICS at community meetings events fairs and outreach opportunities throughout Vancouver Island.
Support community awareness initiatives and promotional activities in collaboration with the Community Education and Outreach Coordinator.
Help promote VICS programs and services through community engagement and outreach.
Program Administration
Coordinate communication with workshop participants facilitators and community partners.
Support workshop registrations scheduling and logistical coordination.
Maintain accurate electronic records and administrative systems.
Coordinate promotional materials and support donor appreciation activities.
Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Excellent organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and other technology-based systems.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
A genuine interest in community education crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
Qualifications
Experience facilitating groups presentations or community education programs.
Experience in crisis intervention peer support school counselling mental health or related community services.
ASIST safeTALK Trainer or other suicide prevention training is considered an asset.
A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development including future facilitator certification.
Valid BC Class 5 Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Hours of Work:
Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week).
This position requires flexibility in scheduling as hours will vary depending on the Community Education training and facilitation schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
When not delivering or supporting community-based training the position is expected to work a combination of in-office and remote work. On average this will include approximately three days in the office and two days working remotely subject to operational needs.
Regular travel throughout Vancouver Island is an essential component of this role. Applicants must be willing and able to travel to support training workshops meetings and community events. Travel expenses are reimbursed by the employer.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $33.00$35.00 per hour
Benefits include:
Two weeks vacation after your first year with one additional vacation day earned each year thereafter
84 hours of paid sick leave annually
Employer-paid extended health and dental benefits following successful completion of the six-month probationary period
Employer RRSP contribution of 3% after one year of continuous employment
