Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Class 1 Self-Loader Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation loading and unloading of scrap metal and recyclable materials using a self-loader truck. This role requires a strong commitment to safety excellent equipment operating skills and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service.

This position is ideal for an experienced Class 1 driver who is equally comfortable behind the wheel and operating the self-loader with a focus on safety efficiency and exceptional service.

This position is located in Kimberley British Columbia.

The Team

The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services.

Work Environment

This is a Monday to Friday full time position working 7:30am to 4:30pm with overtime as required.

A Day in The Life

  • Safely operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle to transport scrap metal and recyclable materials to and from customer locations and company facilities.
  • Operate the mounted self-loader to self-load and unload materials efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct pre-trip en-route and post-trip inspections of the truck trailer and self-loader reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Secure loads in accordance with company procedures and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Follow all federal provincial and municipal transportation laws including hours of service and cargo securement requirements.
  • Complete daily electronic logs inspection reports scale tickets and shipping documentation accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch customers and site personnel regarding schedules delays and operational issues.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is operated responsibly.
  • Assist with yard operations and other duties as required.

Skills Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 Drivers License with a clean commercial drivers abstract.
  • Previous experience operating a self-loader truck.
  • Experience handling scrap metal construction materials or other bulk materials is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations cargo securement and safe driving practices.
  • Ability to operate the equipment safely in various weather and site conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service and professionalism.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
