POSITION SCOPE:
Reporting to the Lead - Office Administrator People & Culture the Janitorial Associate is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness organization and presentation throughout the office ownership areas lunchrooms kitchenettes exterior areas and private parking facilities. The position requires attention to detail reliability discretion and the ability to work independently while following established cleaning schedules safety procedures and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and scheduled cleaning of the two-level office and designated areas including floors windows doors surfaces fixtures elevators beams vents railings and other areas as required.
- Maintain ownership offices private areas lounges and the private parking garage to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation giving priority attention to these areas as directed.
- Clean and maintain lunchrooms and kitchenettes including counters cabinets refrigerators microwaves coffee makers and other small appliances. Ensure these areas are clean organized properly set up and ready for use.
- Regularly monitor assigned areas throughout the day and address cleaning and housekeeping requirements as they arise.
- Collect remove and dispose of garbage and recycling from interior and exterior areas in accordance with established waste management procedures including lunch areas entrances and the ownership driveway.
- Clean and maintain owners vehicles according to the established schedule including hand washing the exterior and thoroughly cleaning and detailing the interior.
- Monitor cleaning and lunchroom supplies and advise management when inventory requires replenishment. Maintain storage and cleaning areas in a clean organized and orderly condition.
- Report maintenance concerns damage repairs safety hazards or other deficiencies to management promptly.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures PPE requirements WHMIS requirements and safe handling procedures for cleaning products and equipment.
- Assist with training and supporting co-workers to ensure consistent cleaning practices and workplace standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary school graduation diploma (OSSGD) or equivalent required; post-secondary education would be an asset
- 6 months of related experience required with demonstrated capabilities in performing all duties accurately efficiently and safely; vehicle cleaning experience would be an asset
- Demonstrated accountability for quality accuracy and adherence to work instructions with some discretion required with non-standard issues
- Ability to follow schedules and keep commitments and ability to adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to demonstrate tact and professionalism
- Must be able to manage time efficiently adjust to changing priorities/duties and to work well both individually and within a team
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to perform work to meet deadlines and communicated expectations.
- English communication skills required both verbal and written
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures including mixing concentrations product handling and hands-on experience with standard janitorial equipment required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with WHMIS PPE hand safety safe lifting and general health and safety protocols is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in an office environment with moderate exposure to:
- fluctuating heat and cold temperatures;
- some noise associated with forklift traffic;
- some conditions that require sanitation and disinfection; and
- WHMIS chemicals
- PPE safety equipment must be worn and precautions exercised as instructed.
- Position requires the ability to lift up to 23kg occasionally during an 8-hour shift climb and descend steps and stairs and operate powered equipment (floor scrubber vacuums pressure washer etc.)
- Duties require low to moderate manual dexterity on a regular basis.
- Work requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Work requires the ability to bend twist lift reach push pull reach and stretch frequently.
