At ERM youll do more than support projects youll help generate the data and insights that drive critical environmental decisions. As an Analyst Environmental Technician (Fixed-Term) in the Elk Valley region of British Columbia youll work alongside experienced scientists and consultants on meaningful mining energy and industrial projects that contribute to environmental stewardship regulatory compliance and sustainable development. This fixed-term opportunity through December 2026 (with potential extension) offers hands-on field experience mentorship from industry experts and exposure to a wide range of environmental programs that will help accelerate your technical and professional growth from day one.

In this role you play a critical role in helping senior team members to understand and address complex environmental challenges by collecting and compiling data. Your work supports the investigation data collection and data compiling for assessing baseline environmental conditions risk assessment and risk management and environmental compliance projects for mining energy and industrial sites. Your job contributes to risk reduction and regulatory compliance and helps advance ERMs mission of shaping a more sustainable future.
What Your Impact Is
In this role you will support multi-disciplinary programs including hydrogeological site investigations and environmental compliance monitoring across a variety of project sites. From collecting high quality field data to assisting with groundwater flow assessments aquatic effects monitoring and wildlife monitoring to contributing to technical documentation your work will directly support high quality project delivery and innovative environmental solutions. Youll also gain essential experience toward professional registration building a strong foundation for long-term success in environmental consulting.
What Youll Bring
Required
Bachelors degree in environmental sciences biological sciences hydrogeology or geology (with hydrogeology courses).
Recent graduate with strong enthusiasm for hands-on field assignments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including managing organizing and reviewing large datasets.
Experience preparing tables figures maps and technical/academic reports.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a consulting environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail in data recording and technical documentation.
Ability to meet deadlines manage multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to Health & Safety protocols.
Ability to walk long distances and carry heavy field equipment in outdoor environments (sometimes on uneven terrain).
Drivers License Required: This position requires a valid drivers license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Preferred
Eligible for Biologist in Training Professional Agrologist Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) or Geologist in Training (G.I.T.) registration in Alberta or British Columbia.
First Aid AED & CPR Certified (Standard/Intermediate).
Swift Water Rescue certification.
Bear & Wildlife Safety Training.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in extended field rotations including assignments of two or more weeks at remote sites often in variable climate conditions.
Participate in field programs that may require travel to remote locations by truck All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) or helicopter depending on site conditions and project needs.
Conduct fieldwork including:
Water quality sampling including groundwater and surface water.
Field measurements and monitoring activities.
Collection of water quality samples for laboratory analysis according to industry practices.
Downloading and managing field data from data loggers.
Agricultural and forestry support activities.
Support technical and project management teams with project planning activities including the preparation and implementation of technical and Health & Safety plans.
Record organize and interpret field data; assist in preparing technical deliverables including reports tables charts and graphs.
Adhere to project budgets schedules and scopes of work while communicating proactively with project teams to support timely high-quality project delivery.
Champion ERMs and our clients health and safety culture.
Support the teams growth ambitions throughout the East and West Kootenays by contributing to project delivery meeting with local clients supporting business functions and representing ERMs values across the region.
For theAnalyst Environmental Technician (Fixed-Term) position theanticipatedhourly pay is$28.00(CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education experience skills location performance and business some cases pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees arenot bonuseligible).
