AI Software Engineer
Sydney (mostly remote) Mid to Early-Senior Full-time
A well-backed Agentic AI startup building software within biochemical engineering. Youll ship end-to-end features in TypeScript (React Node GraphQL) alongside a product and AI engineering team of 15. Technical complex product. Fast shipping to real customers.
This is a founding-eng role. Ideal for someone who builds fast and wants real ownership from day one.
What youll do
- Ship full-stack features from design to production end to end
- Own back-end workflows and GraphQL API layers used by scientists daily
- Work directly with the founding team on product direction and architecture
- Drive quality and product decisions without a layer of approvals slowing you down
- Help establish engineering patterns as the team scales
About you
- Founding or early engineer at a high-growth startup or at a scale-up and want that scope
- Strong TypeScript fundamentals across the stack (React GraphQL)
- Comfortable with ambiguity: you scope your own work and dont wait to be told what to build next
- Bias to action and resourceful. You unblock yourself but know when to pull someone in
- Strong software fundamentals: youve shipped and scaled a product or come from a team with a high engineering bar
Nice to have
- Experience at an AI-native company (RelevanceAI Heidi Health Canva or similar)
- LLM or ML integration work
Stack
TypeScript React GraphQL Postgres Python. Nice to haves: NestJS LLM/ML AWS CI/CD containers.
Comp
AUD $130k-$160k base (mid to early-senior). Aptitude matters more than years.
Details
Sydney preferred but open to all of Australia mostly remote. Australian working rights required. Full flexibility including overseas work post probation.
