How to apply for The Globe and Mails 2027 Summer Jobs ProgramAre you an early-career journalist looking to take your career to the next level Applications are now open for The Globe and Mails 2027 Summer Jobs Program. Were hiring for 11 contract editorial positions across the newsroom. Successful candidates will be paid in accordance with the newsroom unions collective agreement at the current starting rate of $1233.72/week. These are not internships. Summer staff cover for full-time Globe and Mail journalists during the busy summer vacation period which spans 13 weeks from early June through Labour Day 2027. At the end of the program some Summer Program journalists will be considered for an additional 12-month extension of their invited to apply for one or more of these available positions:Reporting: Our reporters pitch ideas cover stories and produce features for news Report on Business and other sections;Editing: You will work with reporters on structural edits of stories from across our coverage areas. Our editing team ensures all Globe stories are accurate clear and enjoyable to read;Programming: This group of digital and print editors writes headlines runs our homepages sends news alerts copy edits stories and makes curation decisions based on news judgment and audience data; Visuals: This team is responsible for a wide range of visual journalism including photos video graphics and design working collaboratively across all aspects of The Globes coverage;Data: Our data journalists work collaboratively across the newsroom to find and tell stories through data gathering analysis and the creation of charts and of these placements offer the chance to build on your existing capabilities and develop valuable new skills in a challenging and fast-paced but also supportive newsroom environment. Many of The Globes full-time staff got their start through this candidates are assigned a mentor for the duration of the summer and will have the opportunity to network with journalists across the newsroom. There may also be opportunities to gain experience in departments outside of your primary qualify you must have previous journalism experience. That could be freelance writing and editing; work on your schools print or online publication; or your own venture (newsletter podcastetc.). Recent postsecondary graduates and postsecondary students in their graduating year are welcome to apply.
