Senior Software Engineer

The Role

This is a great opportunity to join the Fastmarkets Software Engineering Team to help continue grow our technology working alongside highly skilled colleagues enabling us to accelerate our product delivery and scale our business. This team develop enhance and support our flagship digital platform serving global customers with critical price data news and analytics in the commodities markets we serve. We make this data and intelligence easily accessible through multiple channels including web desktop API Excel and mobile applications enabling customers to integrate our digital offering into their business workflows.

The Senior Software Engineer (Core) is a full-time position working within an Agile team reporting to the Engineering this technical role the Engineer will be working as part of a global team of Software Engineers Business Analysts and Product Managers to successfully develop and deliver new features. This includes contributing to major projects that make a difference to Fastmarkets customers both in our existing markets such as metals forest products and agricultural commodity sectors.

Working closely alongside the Digital Product team the Engineer will be principally working within the Core squad - the team responsible for the foundational platform services that underpin the entire Fastmarkets digital product. This includes authentication and authorisation user and permissions management the Admin UI and customer-facing delivery channels such as the Fastmarkets Dashboard Excel Add-in and newsletter/email alert services. There will also be opportunities to develop a wider knowledge across all dimensions of the Fastmarkets platform enabling them to be equipped with both business and technical expertise to tackle Fastmarkets most exciting business challenges.

Our technical stack and Angular our cloud infrastructure is Azure and we seek to use the latest and greatest relevant technologies in our work.

Principal Accountabilities

• Implementation of technical solutions for new features and product enhancements primarily within the Core platform area - spanning authentication authorisation user entitlements Admin UI and customer-facing delivery services.
• Adherence to sound software engineering design principles - design patterns SOLID code and similar practices;
• Ensuring solutions are developed to be scalable flexible resilient and secure with particular sensitivity to the security requirements of authentication and permissions systems;
• Contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of the OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect authentication platform (Duende IdentityServer) and the user product access (UPA) entitlements framework;
• Collaborating on the Admin UI to support internal operations teams managing users roles service clients and reference data;
• Use of AI-assisted development tools as part of the standard workflow to accelerate implementation and testing while retaining full ownership of design decisions and code quality;
• Support the ongoing maintenance of existing Fastmarkets Core platform software including participation in production support and incident resolution.

KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated driven and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

Key Experience / Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:

• Strong experience / C# ( 8 or later).
• Solid understanding of authentication and authorisation protocols OAuth 2.0 OpenID; Connect and identity management concepts;
• Strong grasp of OOP concurrency distributed and cloud computing concepts;
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures;
• Experience with Angular or comparable modern frontend frameworks (desirable given the Admin UI component of the role);
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services (e.g. Service Fabric AKS App Configuration Blob Storage);
• Experience of unit testing continuous integration/deployment and test automation;
• Strong communicator in English: able to read/write documentation effectively and has good verbal communication skills;
• Familiarity with messaging technologies e.g. Azure Service Bus;
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture;
• Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot Claude Code) as part of day-to-day development;
