Principal Software Engineer FTC

This is a great opportunity to join the Fastmarkets Software Engineering Team to help continue grow our technology and build a highly skilled team that will enable us to accelerate our product delivery and scale our business. This team develop enhance and support our flagship digital platform serving global customers with critical price data news and analytics in the commodities markets we serve. We make this data and intelligence easily accessible through multiple channels including web desktop API Excel and mobile iOS and Android applications enabling customers to integrate our digital offering into their business workflows.

The Principal Software Engineer is a full-time position working within a Scrum team reporting to the Engineering this technical role working as part of a global a team of Software Engineers Business Analysts and Product Managers to successfully develop and deliver new features. This

includes contributing to major projects that make a difference to Fastmarkets customers both in our existing markets such as metals forest products and agricultural commodity sectors.

Our technical stack is largely and cloud infrastructure is Azure and we seek to use the latest relevant technologies in our work. It is engineered for scalability and fault-tolerance with rich web and mobile UIs.

In this hands-on development role you will be a senior member of the development team reporting to an Engineering Manager. As a Principal Engineer you will also be expected to contribute to the strategic and technical direction within the team to which you aligned. You will be a highly productive developer who is passionate about writing clean quality code building high-scale distributed systems that are fault-tolerant with deep operational insights. You will take an engineering approach to developing new services and systems favouring metrics over personal opinion or bias. You will have good communication skills and be able to mentor and help grow more junior developers coaching them on good design coding and software engineering practices. This is an individual contributor role where you will be providing technical leadership.

KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Key Experience / Qualifications

• Strong grasp of OOP concurrency distributed and cloud computing concepts
• Strong experience /C#
• Microsoft Azure (Service Fabric Blob Storage Service Bus Event Hubs)
• Databases including relational (SQL Server) and NoSQL (CosmosDB)
• UI Frameworks Angular TypeScript or JavaScript
• Experience with distributed programming protocols and infrastructure including: Web protocols REST WebSockets (SignalR) gRPC
• Messaging and caching - Service Bus Redis
• Experience of unit testing continuous integration/deployment and test automation
• Use of AI tooling to enhance and accelerate software development
• Strong communicator in English: able to read/write documentation effectively and have good verbal communication skills
• Cloud computing Ideally Azure.
• Experience developing microservices
• Ability to mentor and grow more junior developers
