Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to design develop and maintain cloud-based applications while supporting the migration of existing solutions to modern cloud platforms. The successful candidate will play a leading role in software development DevOps practices and Agile delivery while mentoring developers and contributing to the technical direction of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop maintain and enhance cloud-based applications.
• Design and implement scalable cloud-native solutions.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers providing technical guidance and coaching.
• Perform software development activities including coding testing debugging and code reviews.
• Support migration of applications to cloud platforms.
• Take a leading role within Agile development teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Contribute to DevOps best practices automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Java software development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Kubernetes.
• Proven experience developing cloud-based applications.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Functions.
• Experience migrating applications to cloud platforms.
• Experience working within the public sector.
• Experience in the waste management or environmental services sector.
• Fluent Dutch (CEFR C2 level).

Preferred Skills

• Experience leading and coaching development teams.
• Strong programming skills including coding testing and debugging.
• Experience working in Agile development environments in a leadership capacity.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira Confluence Bitbucket Bamboo).
• Experience working within the Flemish Government or similar government organisations.
