Security Operations Engineer — Firewall Platform Support for NATO with security clearance
Job Summary
This is the firewall estate itself run centrally: installation central management policy patching and the daily discipline of a queue with real response times against it. You would join a small security team in Mons as its firewall specialist.
It is a good job for someone who likes the platform side of security where the answer to a repetitive task is a script and where a rule change is documented before it is made.
What you would be doing
- Build install and configure next-generation firewalls and bring them under central management with the right template and device group settings.
- Configure high availability time and name resolution settings and keep software and threat signatures current through the maintenance windows.
- Implement verify and adapt firewall rulesets and policies as requirements change.
- Work the ticket queue to the agreed response times four hours for normal events one hour for high and critical across phone mail and chat.
- Keep logging and log forwarding correct so events reach the central database.
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures and security documentation and automate the recurring administration.
- Troubleshoot with the network and platform teams and support users on secure cross-domain exchange.
What you would bring
- Solid experience as a firewall administrator on next-generation platforms.
- Good networking knowledge and familiarity with cyber security tooling.
- Scripting for automation of routine administration.
- The temperament for pro-active maintenance the work is measured in what did not break.
- Professional English spoken and written.
The work is fully on site in Mons and delivery is planned in one-week sprints.
